ebXML
"The use of electronic messaging for business transactions such as invoices, purchase orders and shipment notices between business partners is the domain of the ebXML technology work, sometimes known as e-business XML." (www.wikipedia.org)

"The ebXML specification is recognised worldwide as a set of tools for establishing electronic business interactions. The ebXML specification shows companies of any size, including government and not-for-profit organisations, how to establish business processes, locate trading partners, exchange messages, translate among terminology used in different industries, and integrate the transactions with their current data-exchange protocols." (www.wikipedia.org)

Westhawk have developed a gateway device that acts as a Message Handling System for their client Hospital Engineering Information Systems (HEIS). This solution translates requests in ebXML and HL7 between the spine of the national NHS project, NPfIT and the client's legacy hospital booking system.

EnglandNet
"EnglandNet aims to provide a framework for England's tourism businesses to become more competitive and profitable:
  • By 'joining up' England's tourism product, it gives consumers and businesses easier access to better information.
  • By holding better, more dynamic information, EnglandNet will be able to penetrate more distribution channels, enabling greater access to quality-assured tourism products.
  • By enabling easier access to information more people will be encouraged to take breaks in England, and so increase tourism revenue for English businesses and communities."

Westhawk's client Marketing Manchester required interoperable capabilities to be developed within their Destination Management System (DMS). Using a Java component, AXIS to communicate over SOAP, Westhawk developed an interface that conforms to the WSDL of the national project, EnglandNet.

Westhawk also worked closely with their client and the national data standards to ensure that the data conversion and data matching was precise and delivered a coherent result when the information was repurposed on the national tourism websites.
